distance and speedwork

Hey guys Just wanted to say i know speed work outs can be hard and annoying. but dont leave them out or you may find your time (at the end or a race) not where you want it to be. The speed work is esential to any race because your body needs to be able to move fast even if your a distance runner, you cant completely rely on stamina. Running Times magazine tells of a man who ran 4 10 in the mile and planned to break 4 in the fall. so that summer he ran 6 days a week with 20 miles a day at 6 minute pace. He thought he would destroy that time and he ended up barely breaking 5. The point is speedwork is essential to all races and it can not be left out so sitll take at least 1 or 2 days a week to do some speed work on a track.
